FoogleTech built a full-stack cryptocurrency trading web application in Python and Flask, integrating live market data for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB via the CoinMarketCap API, with buy/sell functionality, a multi-currency wallet, KYC identity verification, OCR-powered document processing, and support for UPI and Paytm payment methods — delivering a compliant, end-to-end trading platform ready for real-world users.

The Engineering Challenge

  • Integrating real-time cryptocurrency price feeds from CoinMarketCap API with reliable update frequency required careful rate-limit management and caching to ensure price accuracy without API quota exhaustion during high-traffic periods.
  • KYC compliance demanded automated identity document verification — users needed to upload government-issued IDs that the system could validate without manual review, requiring OCR integration capable of extracting structured data from scanned documents.
  • Supporting multiple Indian payment methods (UPI, Paytm, banking transfers) alongside a wallet system required a unified payment abstraction layer managing deposits, withdrawals, and internal wallet transfers with correct transaction state tracking.
  • The buy/sell order engine needed to reflect live market prices at execution time — preventing stale-price trades during periods of high price volatility.

Our Solution

  • FoogleTech built the Flask backend with a CoinMarketCap API integration layer using server-side caching with a short TTL, ensuring price data refreshes at high frequency while staying within API rate limits — with fallback to the last valid price during transient API failures.
  • OCR technology was integrated into the KYC pipeline to automatically extract text from uploaded identity documents, validate key fields against user-submitted form data, and flag mismatches for manual review — reducing KYC processing time from days to minutes.
  • A unified wallet module was developed managing rupee and crypto balances, with support for UPI, Paytm, and bank transfer deposits — all transactions logged with immutable records for audit and reconciliation purposes.
  • The order execution engine fetches a fresh live price from the CoinMarketCap feed at the moment of trade execution, applies it to the order quantity, deducts from the wallet, and records the trade — ensuring users always trade at actual market price.
